Exercising and falls prevention

Falls are known to be one of the leading causes of injury and hospitalisation in elderly. In fact, approximately 50% of elderly living at home have experienced falls without serious injury, multiple falls without serious injury and falls with serious injury (Tinetti & Williams, 1997). Falls can result in disability, restriction in activities of daily living, fear of falling and loss of confidence which ultimately leads to a reduction in quality of life and independence. The identification of modifiable and potentially preventable risk factors have shown to reduce falling rates of up to 40%.

Clinicare Australia helps to address the factors which may lead to a fall including:

  • Ageing
  • Inactivity
  • Poor muscle strength
  • Chronic disease
  • Poor balance and co-ordination
  • Poor mobility
  • Home environment

We provide both private sessions and group sessions for people of all ages to participate.
